The 1st Kyphoplasty in Nepal

FIRST Kyphoplasty Procedure in Nepal, done at HAMS
We are pleased to share that the first ever Kyphoplasty procedure has been done in our country at HAMS by our consultant spine surgeon dr. Prashant Adhikari, who had learned this technique from dr. Eldin Karaikovic, at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, USA.
Kyphoplasty is a vital procedure for treating vertebral fractures, osteoporotic fractures, and spine tumors, offering hope to many patients in need of such intervention.
Our patient an 81-year-old female was bedridden for the past 4 months due to l1 compression fracture. She also has a history of heart failure & lungs pathology.
Kyphoplasty was conducted under local anesthesia, and the patient was discharged the very next day, comfortable.
We would also like to express our gratitude to our chief consultant dr. Bhaskar raj pant for providing dr. Adhikari the opportunity to participate in the training program at weiss memorial hospital.
We are committed to helping those who require our assistance.

Resilience Healthcare is always teaching
Resilience Healthcare – Weiss was excited to welcome Dr. Prashant Adhikari from Nepal. Dr. Adhikari was a guest of Dr. Eldin Karaikovic, our Orthopedic Surgeon, who was teaching Dr. Adhikari how to perform a kyphoplasty on a dummy. A kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat vertebral compression fractures by inflating a balloon to restore bone height, then injecting bone cement in the vertebral body. It was a wonderful experience for both Drs. Adhikari and Karaikovic… and the dummy as well presumably!
