CHARITY
Since beginning his surgical practice in 2002, Dr. Karaikovic has traveled to several poor, less-developed and economically-emerging countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Moldova, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Africa and Vietnam, where he has performed surgeries without charge, conducted clinics, given lectures, consulted with medical faculties and provided individual direction and given instruction to medical students and recent medical graduates. However, his activities were founded by his personal financial contributions. The Foundation has been formed to raise funds from other charitable organizations, health care professionals and the general public to continue and expand these activities, and to enlist the participation of other surgeons and health professionals.
Free Surgical Services
The Foundation will continue to support medical care in the underdeveloped or economically-emerging countries to provide free surgical services to patients in need without the ability to pay. The Foundation will also solicit the participation of other surgeons and health professionals willing to contribute their services to these patients free of charge. Funds solicited through the Foundation will be used to fund the surgeons’ travel expenses including transportation, lodging, and meals, and the cost of any supplies or equipment used in the provision of services.
The Allen Strehlow Brace Donation Project
Over 200 different braces, crutches and equipment donated by the pateints and manufacturers have been donated to the hospitals around the world.
